Our Technologies We deploy our technologies through companies already working in the energy sector. Technologies are available for license or sale. We also welcome enquiries from companies interested in trialling our technologies with a view to license or sale.
Proof of concept has been demonstrated for all technologies; the majority have been tested under a variety of conditions in the lab and several field trials are currently underway. Our technologies are specifically developed to:
- Be simple to use
- Be sensitive
- Offer improved accuracy
- Be suitable for onsite analysis
Our technologies will ensure your chemicals are applied at optimal concentrations and so:
- prevent over-use: cut costs, reduce risk of production issues associated with excessive chemical dosage, mitigate environmental risks.
- reduce likelihood of underdosing: and so reduce risk of flow assurance and integrity issues occurring
Our technologies can help: - Differentiate chemical and tracers in comingled streams
- Detect chemicals in crude oil
- Detect specific polymers, even in the presence of other poymeric treatment chemicals.
OMMICA™ : A simple, accurate and sensitive testing kit for analysing the concentration of the thermodynamic hydrate inhibitors methanol and monoethylene glycol (MEG), in water, crude oil and condensate. Please click to view a MEG in Crude Demo, a MEG in Water Demo, or a Methanol in Crude demo. A Methanol and MEG case study and a MEG case study are also available to read.
OMMICA™ can also be used as a quick (10 min) yes/no test to check whether methanol is present at concentrations ≥50ppm in oil or water samples.
CoMic™ : A technology to help ensure optimal corrosion inhibitor usage. CoMic™ is an entirely novel concept in chemical monitoring and is based on detecting corrosion inhibitor micelles in oilfield fluids. The presence of micelles is used as an indicator for the efficacy of the corrosion inhibitor dose. For more information please click here .
LUX Tag™ : For simple, sensitive and more accurate determination of the presence and concentration of treatment chemicals e.g. polymeric scale inhibitors at the point of sampling. The treatment chemicals are selectively labelled with small molecule tags that can be detected with LUX Tag™ detection reagents. Advantages include reduction in sample interferences that can cause detection problems with more commonly used fluorescent tags. For more information please click here .
LUX Tracer™ : A portfolio of environmentally friendly chemical tracers that can be detected at low concentrations (parts per billion). Analysis can be conducted quickly and effectively onsite using LUX Tracer™ detection reagents. For more information please click here .
LUX Monitor™ : For monitoring of oil-in-water. A LUX Markers™ is added to a sample and produces a distinct fluorescent signal in the presence of hydrocarbons. Potential applications throughout the production, transportation, processing and refining chain. For more information please click here .
We are interested in hearing about new applications for our existing technologies.
